As a Christian church we uphold the dignity and sanctity of life and creation. We believe that peace can be achieved and maintained on ly by peaceful means, not by the use of force. We urge that: 1. the government of the People¡¯s Republic of China stop using force against Tibetan independence movement advocates and supporters; 2. the Chinese government respect the right of the Tibetan people to determine their destiny themselves; 3. Chinese and Tibetan leaders immediately begin a dialogue to achieve peace and to seek political, economic and cultural solutions mutually beneficial to both Chinese and Tibetan peoples. We pray with ecumenical partners around the world that the God of peace and justice guide Tibetan and Chinese leaders and people in the way of peace and life. (Rev.)
