우리 할 일은 돈을 버는 것이 아니라 돈 욕심을 버리는 것입니다.
행복은 돈이 있는 것이 아니라 돈욕심이 없는 것입니다.
우리 할 일은 인기를 키우는 것이 아니라 명예욕을 버리는 것입니다.
행복은 사랑과 칭찬을 많이 받는 것이 아니라 바람과 욕심이 없는 것입니다.
우리 할 일은 쾌락을 많이 경험하는 것이 아니라 음란을 닦는 것입니다.
성욕은 섹스로 인해 채워지지 않습니다. 행복은 감각적인 즐거움이 아니라 갈망, 갈애(渴愛)가 없는 것입니다.
죽을 당시에 돈과 명예와 배우자를 못 가져 갑니다. 돈욕심과 명예욕과 성욕은 그대로 가져 갑니다.
욕심에 따라 고통도 따라옵니다. 그래서 욕심을 닦는데 신경을 쓰세요.
죽을 당시에 유일하게 혜택을 주는 마음공부에 신경을 쓰세요.

Our job is not to make a lot of money, it is to give up our attachment to money.
Happiness is not having a lot of money. It is the freedom from greed.
Our job is is not to gain favor and praise from a lot of people.
It is to gain freedom from the need and desire to be liked so much.
Happiness is not gained from popularity. It comes from contentment.
Our job is not to indulge in sensual pleasures, it is to become free from lust.
Happiness is not gained from sensual pleasures. It is a freedom from our enslavement to sensual appetites.
When we die, we cannot take money, fame, or our lovers. We take with us our greed, lust, and desire.
And with these follow suffering. So we should do all we can to gain freedom from these causes of suffering;
and adhere as much as possible to training the mind, which is the on ly thing that will help at the time of death.
